Our solutions

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems

At Geoworks, we supply sustainable urban drainage solutions that are not only effective but also environmentally friendly. Our extensive range of geosynthetic products plays a pivotal role in creating advanced SUDs that meet the demands of modern urban landscapes. Through innovation and expertise, we offer specialised solutions designed to mitigate flood risks, improve water quality, and enhance biodiversity in urban areas.

SUBSURFACE SOLUTIONS FOR URBAN AREAS

Geosynthetics offer a robust framework for attenuation tanks, providing a sustainable method for managing stormwater at the source. Our geosynthetic products are engineered to aid underground water storage systems that temporarily hold stormwater during heavy rainfall events, releasing it slowly back into the environment or the sewerage system at a controlled rate. This process significantly reduces the risk of flooding and prevents the overwhelming of drainage infrastructure.

Key Benefits

Space Efficiency: Ideal for areas where space is at a premium, attenuation tanks maximise land use by being installed underground.

Durability: Our superior nonwoven geotextiles add a cushioning blanket layer to geomembranes, reducing the risk of puncture.

Environmental Protection: By managing stormwater effectively, our solutions help protect local watercourses from pollution and flooding.

Prefabricated Shoebox liners

We can prefabricate “shoebox” welded liners. Before the project begins our team will consult with you on
your exact specification. We will then prepare the attenuation module, consisting of geomembrane box
welded liner and geotextile outer wrap.

This self-installation package ensures efficiency and reduces time spent on site. The module can be delivered to any site in the UK. If you have installation requirements, please get in touch at sales@geoworks.eco or call us on 01543 440480.

Enhancing Protection and Performance

Multitrack Superior Nonwoven Geotextile

Our Multitrack SNW geotextile is engineered for exceptional protection, acting as a buffer between the attenuation tank and the surrounding soil or aggregate. This protective layer plays a critical role in preventing punctures, abrasions, and other forms of mechanical damage that could compromise the tank's structure.

Key Features and Benefits

Robust Durability: Crafted from high-quality, nonwoven polypropylene fibres, Multitrack SNW geotextiles offer outstanding resistance to physical and chemical stressors, ensuring the long-term durability of attenuation tank systems.

Optimal Water Flow: While providing excellent protection, Multitrack SNW also facilitates the efficient flow of water around the tank, contributing to the system's overall stormwater management efficiency.

Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of soil types and environmental conditions, Multitrack is an ideal choice for diverse urban landscapes.

Product essentials

Our range of products to reduce the impact of unwanted extreme weather conditions includes water management systems, attenuation tanks – which act as slow-release reservoirs for surface water run-off – and SUDS-compliant permeable paving.

We also offer pond liners, which include prefabricated membranes and geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs), as well as bespoke headwall furniture such as grills, handrails and safety chains. Our woven and non-woven geotextiles – more simply described as protection fleeces – are a popular solution that protects attenuation tanks and stops problematic cases of impermeable membranes becoming punctured.

Choosing a complete system from a single, trusted supplier – like Geoworks – helps to ensure an effective and sustainable drainage solution across the whole project.

Attenuation Ponds: Enhancing Landscape and Biodiversity

Attenuation ponds serve as natural stormwater management systems, offering a scenic and functional addition to urban development. Geosynthetics play a crucial role in the construction and effectiveness of these ponds.

Geosynthetic Clay Liners (GCLs): Our GCLs are the perfect solution for attenuation ponds, providing an impermeable barrier to prevent water loss and contamination of the surrounding soil and groundwater. These liners are made from two layers of geotextiles sandwiching a layer of bentonite clay, combining the strength of geotextiles with the natural sealing properties of bentonite.

Key Benefits:

Water Quality Improvement: Attenuation ponds facilitate the natural treatment of stormwater, improving its quality before it discharges into watercourses.

Biodiversity Boost: These ponds create valuable habitats for wildlife, promoting biodiversity in urban areas.

Aesthetic Value: Beyond their practical benefits, attenuation ponds enhance the landscape, offering peaceful green spaces for communities to enjoy.

Supporting tender bids

We’re an advocate of early engagement because if a Geoworks engineering manager is engaged at the tender stage, the impact on the savings to reduce time and money can also assist contractors in winning tenders.

Another benefit of early engagement is that geogrids can be manufactured to the exact width that the contractor needs, suiting the site-specific requirements and creating an even more cost-effective grid. Simply removing a longitudinal overlap in the geogrid layout can save a further 10 per cent in product costs alone. Small changes but big savings are available.

However, all isn’t lost if engagement comes afterwards as savings can still be introduced.

Ornamental Pond at Fallow Park

Fallow Park is an exclusive housing development on the outskirts of Cannock. A 1400m2 ornamental pond with green space was designed to enhance the development and provide a habitat for a variety of wildlife. The ground conditions and nature of the finished pond meant that an impermeable membrane would be required to line the pond.
