If you’re considering using geogrids or geotextiles in your projects but lack the expertise to choose the right one, Geoworks is here to help. We’ve prepared this brief guide to provide some initial advice.
Geotextiles, geogrids and geocomposites are all geosynthetics: man-made products that aid land conditions. But each has its own unique use. If you find yourself on-site during your construction or civil engineering project, and are using geogrids and geotextiles in the same area, then a geocomposite may have been the better solution.
At first glance, geosynthetics can seem to have a negative impact on the environment. They last a long time, are made of plastics and polymers, and are embedded into the Earth. But there is increasingly a requirement for geosynthetics to be developed to last hundreds, if not thousands, of years. While they might seem to harm our environment when you dig deeper, the narrative is very different.
Geosynthetics use manmade materials to improve land or soil-based conditions during construction and civil engineering projects. At Geoworks, we offer six types of geosynthetics used for six main functions: separation, protection, filtration, erosion control, reinforcement, and drainage.
If you are new to geosynthetics or looking at working more sustainably, you might initially view a manmade product as detrimental to the environment. However, there is more to being environmentally friendly than just what a product is made from...
