Not all geogrids are created equal, and their manufacturing processes significantly impact their performance and application. Two primary methods stand out in geogrid manufacture: thermally bonded and punched and drawn.
Geosynthetics are relatively new products when it comes to civil engineering and construction. However, for as long as we’ve been building, we’ve always been looking at ways to improve and stabilise different soil and land conditions. From the ancient pyramids to roads in Rome, builders, architects, and specifiers have used a range of materials to stabilise their projects...
If you’re considering using geogrids or geotextiles in your projects but lack the expertise to choose the right one, Geoworks is here to help. We’ve prepared this brief guide to provide some initial advice.
Geotextiles, geogrids and geocomposites are all geosynthetics: man-made products that aid land conditions. But each has its own unique use. If you find yourself on-site during your construction or civil engineering project, and are using geogrids and geotextiles in the same area, then a geocomposite may have been the better solution.
At first glance, geosynthetics can seem to have a negative impact on the environment. They last a long time, are made of plastics and polymers, and are embedded into the Earth. But there is increasingly a requirement for geosynthetics to be developed to last hundreds, if not thousands, of years. While they might seem to harm our environment when you dig deeper, the narrative is very different.
Geosynthetics use manmade materials to improve land or soil-based conditions during construction and civil engineering projects. At Geoworks, we offer six types of geosynthetics used for six main functions: separation, protection, filtration, erosion control, reinforcement, and drainage.
